Hard Disk Tech Specs (tm)
====================
v 2.0
Installation:
-------------
Hard Disk Tech Specs can be run from this diskette, or from a hard drive
for speed. If running from A:, you would type:
A:HDTS <Enter>
Hard disk users can copy all of the files from the master diskette(s) to
a subdirectory (perhaps C:\HDTS). From the C: prompt, follow these steps:
1) Create the subdirectory by typing:
MD HDTS <Enter>
2) Change to the subdirectory by typing:
CD HDTS <Enter>
3) Copy the files from the master diskette(s):
COPY A:*.* <Enter>
4) Execute the program:
HDTS <Enter>
Operation:
----------
Hard Disk Tech Specs supports the use of a keyboard, or Microsoft-compatible
mouse. If the program detects the presence of a mouse driver, you will
automatically get a mouse-style cursor. The keyboard is ALWAYS active.
Selections can be made in 1 of 3 ways:
Keyboard: The cursor keys can be used in the standard fashion
to select a pull-down menu from the Main Menu, and
to scroll through any lists. The ESC key will
ALWAYS back up one level.
Mouse: The mouse-style cursor will appear automatically
whenever a mouse driver is present. To select a
menu item, just point and click the left button.
To scroll through lists, click on the appropriate
arrow, either up or down, located next to each list.
The right button functions like the ESC key.
Hot keys: Each Main Menu selection will have a hilighted
letter, which can be pressed to immediately select
the appropriate pull-down menu.
To locate a specific item in a list quickly without having to use the cursor
keys, use the speed search feature. Simply begin to type the desired text,
and Hard Disk Tech Specs will automatically move to the item in the list
that matches what you have typed. For example, say that you are at the top
of the list of drive manufacturers. Hitting "W" will immediately jump to
Western Digital. The speed search feature can be used with ANY list,
including Hard drives, Addresses, Terms, and Debug.
